Well, a little slow getting up and around this morning. I wanted to get up around 0530, but finally rolled out of bed at 0615. Headed over to the passenger terminal to talk to Meagan and the kiddos. Taylor was super excited about popcorn. He sold $150 today on the way to his $600 goal, so AWESOME job! Meagan and I discussed popcorn options. She's going to order us some and ship it over. If we go through the website, I can't enter AE as an option for state AND they charge us about $20 more, before shipping is calculated. So, she's going to play the middleman. Yay!
Finished up talking to Meagan, looked across the room, and saw a familiar face I had seen in the dining facility last week. It's a guy who worked in the OSS when I was in Japan. I think he's either a load master or crew chief. I'm not certain on which. Crazy, CRAZY, small world we live in!
Went back to the room for a nap and then got up for lunch. Had some beef "yakisoba" with rice and some Afghan-style lamb. It was pretty good stuff. I say "yakisoba" because, having lived in Japan for three years, I know what REAL yakisoba is; this isn't even close!
Headed off to the BX to look for flags. They have them for $18 each, but you can only buy two at a time. I guess they are a hot commodity over here. I decided not to buy any, as I wanted to research prices online. Well, between the price online and shipping, it's a better deal to buy them here. So, I'll go back and buy them a couple at a time. Right now, I am planning on seven...may do more, we'll see. I plan to fly one for Emma, since this is her first deployment. Taylor has one from Iraq and I'm trying to knock out friends I didn't fly for in Iraq and new friends I've made since then. I forgot to bring my own flag from Iraq, but don't think I'll buy another for myself.
Headed into work for my first real night of running things. I got the reports updated and sent out. I even had some time to clean up my bullets (accomplishments) since I've been here. Hard to believe I have accomplished so much in just three weeks here, but I already have a grocery list of things I've done. That's me, though; hit the ground running...hard!
Dinner tonight was pretty good. They had fajitas and enchiladas. My enchiladas were a little burnt on the bottom, but ask anyone about me...that just means better flavor! :)
Not really much else going on today. I just got back to the room and ready for bed. It's time to hit the sack and get ready to do it all again tomorrow! Night all...God bless!
