So, I set my alarms last night and don't really even remember them going off. I woke up around 0745 and saw a message from Meagan that she was headed to bed. This is, I think, the first time we haven't chatted since I've been here. I'm hoping to maybe catch her a little later. I have no idea how long we'll be here. We're on our way to recover some equipment and take it back to the shop.
Woke up, for good, around 1100. Man, it feels great to have finally gotten a LONG sleep in; something my body must have needed. Went to the shower house, got cleaned up, and just chilling for a bit before we go grab lunch.
11 years ago...that's why I'm where I am today. It's hard to believe that our world was thrown into chaos that many years ago. I can't say I agree with us being here, but my President and government does, so I am here, just doing what I do. One day, perhaps in Taylor's lifetime, there will be peace here. It really is amazing to see this country from the air, the majestic mountains and lush river valleys, and just know that there is a war going on. How could a place like this harbor such hatred for peace and democracy? I'm not sure anyone will ever quite understand it...I know I won't.
Didn't really do a whole lot today. I went to the BX here and broke down. Picked up an HP Mini to have something small to carry around. I had contemplated it before I left, but just couldn't make up my mind. However, the thought of lugging around a 17" laptop when we go places just wasn't appealing, especially when I would like to update this blog. My phone has issues posting pictures, so I wanted a better solution.
Dinner was pretty good. They had Swiss steak, rice, and mixed vegetables. It was a pretty good meal. We were a little surprised they had a cake for September 11. I didn't have any, I opted for ice cream, but I heard it wasn't that great.
Today was pretty uneventful. We're still just waiting around until we can get out of here. I'm headed off to bed so I can talk to Meagan and the kiddos in the morning. Can't wait!
